Many
of the ramps along the S. side are sticker/resident only ramps there
are some however that are still open to the public, although there is a
parking/use fee for some of them. I will start off with the Ramp in Woods Hole- ( I used the
16 Albatross St.
Woods Hole for the address in the link) This ramp is the closest
to fish lower Buzzards and Vineyards. Parking is a chronic
problem, parking is only available on the street on the left, if you had
passed the ramp, along the harborside, however you cannot launch before
5 am and there isn't always a spot available. Be careful on this ramp
as there is a large piece of corrugated metal left from the coffer dam
built during ramp reconstruction years ago, it eats propellers.
Directions:
From Rte. 28 take
Woods Hole Rd., about 4 miles to Woods Hole, continue
on this Rd. right through Downtown Woods Hole. Once you go over the
drawbridge , shortly after the road will just end and you are forced to
turn right, the ramp is just ahead on the left hand side. Next
up is
the ramp at Falmouth Harbor.
This is a newer ramp and parking here isn't typically a problem except
during weekends in the summer, especially
during striper season
(comm'l).
Main Street (Route 28) At the 7-Eleven turn onto Scranton Avenue, until
you pass the Windfall Market/West Marine on your right. Take a left
into the next
paved parking lot. Ramp is
located on the other side of the Harbormaster garage with parking
available in the upper level of the parking lot. No overnight parking
allowed. The
Next
ramp is the ramp at Green
Pond,
again like the Woods Hole Ramp there is no parking overnight before 5 AM
Heading east we find the ramp at the Childs
River This is not the best of ramps, but is convenient to Rte. 28,
the parking
area in fact is right on 28. There is a boatyard diectly adjacent
to the ramp, Edwards Boatyard.
The downside of this ramp is that it isn't good at lower tides and the
ride to open water is considerably longer than the ramps in Green Pond
or Falmouth Harbor, but if you are looking to fish the Waquoit Bay
area, this ramp is one of only two options you have.
